Baby Chicks

Baby chicks are incredibly cute. That we all can agree on. Their fuzzy yellow coat will light up your day and not just on Easter either. Chicks can be purchased so that they can be used for food as with eggs and also poultry. They can also be bought as pets and kept for many years. These animals need love, shelter and food, but to be perfectly honest they are quite easy and fun to take care of.

Your first stop is to find the perfect chick. This is best done at a local farm because shipping these fragile animals to your location can result in some of them being killed. Different breeds of baby chicks are better for eggs while some are better for meat as well as eggs. All of the different breeds make great pets. You do want to make sure that the baby chicks are in good health before buying. This is very important as chicks can carry disease.

Next, you can choose to keep your furry friends in two places depending on whether or not they have feathers. Those without need to be kept warm like with a heat lamp and those with feathers can be kept in a cage. Your new baby chick needs constant love and care around the clock. Think of them as tiny newborn fuzzy babies. They need a home that is stress free and very clean. This is all up to you as you are their new parent.

Baby chicks are used for meat and eggs as they grow, but some forget that these little guys can be the perfect gift for a child. The child can watch the baby chick grow and learn about the circle of life and the food process. Baby chicks: food and friend.
